I was exhausted. I had just returned home after driving about 16 hours from a wedding in Quebec I was photographing. It was about 11pm that I sat on my couch and decided to quickly go through my emails I needed to return. I remembered prior to leaving for Quebec that Emilia had emailed inquiring about my family photography and I had referred her a couple of fantastic PEI photographers as I was completely booked. I wanted to make sure that she had found someone to capture her family memories while vacationing on PEI. I shot her off a quick message and she shot right back to say she had not yet found someone. I shot her off a few more names to inquire and messaged more and soon realized how much she valued photography. She had a goal. She wanted to have her family photographed in every province of Canada. I didn’t want to disappoint! After about two hours of chatting that nite….I told her I really only had a one day opening and if she wanted to go with it, then I’d love to photograph her family.
After two weeks plus of chatting every day, organizing clothing choices, scouting out beach locations and sending her photos to choose from, referring hair and makeup…the day finally came to meet. The weather was perfect! I picked Emilia up from her hotel and took her to her hair and make-up appointment so their little boy could nap. We then drove to pick her beautiful family up and headed for Covehead beach. We spent about two hours on the beach and I loved every minute of it. To see them feel the sand on their toes, to finding sea shells, to have waves lap at their feet as they giggled, hugged, and shared their family love was priceless! Here’s a few images from their session.
“The sand may brush off.
The salt may wash clean.
The tans may fade.
But the memories will last forever.”
